Overview,
For each build you submit, the Team will judge it and reward your character accordingly. In Dark Times 3.0, your builds for Targets and other hosted events will also contribute towards your faction. If your faction gets the highest average total score for an event, you will receive additional credits and XP.
How It Works,
We have created a spreadsheet the Team uses that removes some of the pain points that caused us to be slow in the past and allows us to automate calculations. This will allow us to judge and reward you faster. This guide will fully explain the spreadsheet, going from left to right if you want to follow along with the screenshot. Here are the example builds being judged:
Note: he didn’t actually build for the Rebellion but we wanted to show you how faction scores worked.
General Info (Columns A-C),
Builder
Who submitted the build.,
,
Link
A link to the social media post of the build (ideally Flickr, Instagram, or both if you want to provide high resolution images).,
,
Faction
The faction the builder is submitting for.,
This value, Empire or Rebels, triggers the calculations seen for the faction scores in cells U2 and U3.,
Any character part of the Underworld faction can build to help the Empire or Rebellion, the choice is yours! Let us know which faction you're building for when you submit your build.
Bonuses (Columns D-G),
Each of these columns gives an additional 10 credits per category to the overall credit payout. If a build matches 2 columns, the build receives an additional 20 credit bonus.
Collab
The build is part of a collaboration where multiple members worked together on a single build or on a series of builds.,
These can be collabs hosted by Dark Times or where members coordinate together on their own.,
,
Target
The build is for a Target released by the Dark Times Team with a specific planet, scene, or story provided as a prompt.,
,
Website
The build is featured on the Dark Times website.,
,
Circle Base
The build is built on a circular base, which is a signature style the Dark Times Community has developed in the last few years.,
Check out the Builder's Guide {{TODO - link to builder's guide}} for a Stud.io file that shows a few examples of these.,
You are more than welcome to build circular bases that are not in these Stud.io file as well. These are examples you can use and inspiration for your own custom designs.
Judges & Criteria (Columns H-N),
Each of these criteria is on a 1-10 scale, with the higher the number the more rewards you will get. The maximum score you can get for a build is 50 since there are a total of 5 criteria we judge.
Judge
The Team member who is judging the build.,
,
Presentation
How well the build is presented. Higher quality presentations include good lighting, camera angles, or display techniques such as a forced perspective build.,
We do not expect you to own a camera or fancy photography equipment. A phone and natural light in the right setting can achieve great results too.,
,
Techniques
The building techniques that made the build possible. These can include advanced techniques, new innovate techniques, neat part usage, and more.,
,
Lore
Each build should contribute to the Dark Times timeline, which is 19 BBY - 0 BBY, marking the end of Revenge of the Sith and to the start of A New Hope.,
The lore provided in the build post can be lore from comics, books, shows, movies, or something you've made up yourself as long as it makes sense for the Dark Times universe!,
,
Creativity
How creative and unique the build is.,
This can be a brand new idea or not. Taking inspiration from a comic scene, concept art, etc. and transforming it into a build is great too!,
,
Overall
The overall look and feel of the build. It should look and feel like Star Wars.,
,
Scored
An automated column for the Team to use to quickly tell who has scored or not.
Scores & Payouts (Columns O-R)
Judge's Score
The sum (rounded to nearest whole number) of all Done reviews divided by the number of done reviews.,
In our example for Oshi, his total score is: 90 (rounded up from raw score of 88.5) / 3 (number of judges who reviewed) = 30.,
,
Multipliers
Number of bonuses (columns D-G) applied * 10.,
In both mocmind's and Morrix's builds, they had two bonus categories, resulting in an additional 20 credits.,
,
Total Credit Payout
The formula is: (Judge's Score (column O) * 2) + Multipliers (column P).,
In our example with multipliers present, mocmind's calculation becomes: (37 * 2) + 20 = 94.,
,
Total XP Payout
The total XP applied to your rank and level.,
The formula is: Total Credit Payout (column Q) * 2.
Faction Tracking & Rewards (Column T2-U4),
Building for a specific faction in a Target or other hosted event will count towards that faction winning or losing the event. If a faction wins, each member who contributed to the faction will receive additional credits.
Factions
Empire or Rebellion. Any character part of the Underworld faction can build to help the Empire or Rebellion, the choice is yours! Let us know which faction you're building for when you submit your build.,
,
Total Avg Score
The average score (column Q) of the faction (column C) for all builds.,
Since it is an average, having more builds in one faction vs. the other does not matter. The Empire and Rebellion have an equal shot at winning an event based on the quality of their builds alone.
Payout Tracking (Column T1-U9),
This is administrative tracking for the Team to know if someone has been paid or not. We used to lose track of this in Discord messages so this is another mechanism to help us be faster.
